This course aims to enable participants to understand more fully and meet the needs of the young child. It aims to develop practitioner skills through completion of a self-chosen task between sessions. The course will provide professional development for early years staff and volunteers from a range of Early Years settings - Parent & Toddler groups, cheches, day cares, playgroups and nursery schools.

Course topics include: Nurturing Relationships with Parents and Children Learning through play Heuristic play and treasure baskets Designing a play environment Child development 0-3 years Developing Creativity Music and movement

Course dates: 02, 09, 16, 30 March; 13 April; 04 May 2011

Assessment: A reflective diary will be kept during the course to enable participants to respond to learning opportunities and to integrate theory with practice. Successful completion of an optional assessment task will lead to the award of 20 CATs points. A supplementary fee will be required for this element of the course.
